yeah but usually only sane ones i know that puts me in the minority CF is a glove first position, Defense is the carrying tool, not offense. Could he see CF in some weird distortion of normalcy? Sure. He could also pitch. So it goes. I just don't see either one happening. If (3) OFs got hurt Kipnis still wouldn't be a guy I turned to. He would be like, what, 15th on my OF depth chart? C'mon man. Let's argue reality here. Could it happen, sure. Could little green men land a flying saucer in the middle of the diamond and ask Corey Kluber to take them to his leader? Sure. But C'mon. How many outfielders are going to be on the post season roster? What if 2 get injured running into each other going after a ball in the gap. After one has already been pitch hit for when a left handed pitcher replaced a righty? Again, NO ONE is saying Kipnis is going to play CF every inning of every game. Unlike you, FRANCONA must anticipate every possible scenario and be prepared for the worst to happen. Why would FRANCONA play Kipnis in CF on Sunday if the there was absolutely no possible scenario where he would play CF in the playoffs?? The odds of Kipnis pitching is some where in the neighborhood of 1,000,000 to 1. My guess is that the odds of him playing CF for an inning would be around 10-1.

That was an amazing feat the Indians just pulled off. Sad to see it end, but now they don't have the pressure of keeping the streak going and can focus solely on getting ready for the playoffs.
And since Minnesota lost last night, the magic number is down to 2. Would be nice to clinch it at home.

I knew this game was going to be tight. Was hoping to get through this one with a 'W', then there would have been a strong likelihood of extending the streak to 25, with Carrasco and Kluber looming.
The Indians have earned themselves a prominent place in the record books throughout coming history!

Was neat but glad it is over. Focus on setting the rotation and a WS run.
Good stuff.

Great run and super fgun to watch but i just have to point out one thing. Bauer is horrible. Before that loss, in the 9 games he started since August 4th, Bauer's record was 7-2 with an ERA of 2.42. In the 2 games he lost the scores were 4-2 and 3-2, of the 7 runs scored in those 2 loses only 1 was an earned run. During the 22 game winning streak the starters ERA was 1.71, Bauer pitched every 5th game during the streak. Bauer is considered one of the best #3 starters in baseball. Terry Pluto called several baseball GM's and asked IF Bauer was a Free Agent after this year what would his worth be. The consensus of the GMs was that negotiations would start at $15 million/year. They said he is very durable, the only start he's missed was due to his drone. That he's "figured it out", how to pitch. That he's a bulldog battler. Is a rising star and only 26, 2 months younger than Clevenger. He's 7 years younger than Tomlin. When Tomlin was 26 his record was 6-4 with a 4.56 ERA He's 6 years younger than Kluber. When Kluber was 26 his record was 0-0 with a 8.31 ERA He's 4 years younger than Carrasco. When Carrasco was 26 his record was 1-4 with a a 6.75 ERA. He's 1 year younger than Salazar. Where is Salazar now?? Bauer has won 28 games over the past 2 years, the only Cleveland pitcher to have won more is Kluber with 35. Bauer is under contract until 2021

Some new magic numbers to keep track of:
to clinch home field in the ALDS - 6 (over BOS)
to clinch the #1 seed in the AL - 12 (over HOU)
This is with 12 games left (3 each @ LAA, @ SEA, vs. MIN & vs. CHW)

Shaw makes me nervous, what makes me more nervous is the notion that the Indians are on a down swing from the record setting win streak.

4-0 since their record breaking 22 straight. 27-1 the past 28 games is a down swing? Then, what the hell is an upswing in your estimation?
See that Francona is still toying with his centerfield options for the playoffs.

Amazing, when Indians started their winning streak they were 19 1/2 games behind Dodgers. Now just 1 game behind Dodgers for best record in baseball, but just 1 1/2 games ahead of Houston for best record in AL.

Because in baseball it's "manager of the year".
