Maybe the Cleveland baseball club should revert back to one of its original nicknames: the Spiders who lost a huge amount of games one year, the Forest Cities with trees as the mascot, or the Naps which would have a sleeping baseball player. Yes...I realize the Naps referred to Napoleon Lajoie.

I'd like to see Merritt get some starts.

After two starts, Tomlin's era is 18.47 right now.

Perhaps Game 6 of WS is still haunting him.

Bauer is continuing the practice of pitchers having a hard time getting through the early innings. The offense is awful. Are they pressing too hard? Are teams playing the tribe tougher since they were the AL champions? Whatever it is the overall team batting (terrible) and pitching (like batting practice) is not beginning very well at all.

^ this ^ Only player I would have some concerns about aside from the normal ones (Bauer being a flake, Tomlin throwing powderpuffs, Carrasco getting injured) would be Kluber because he threw so many innings last year. I think when Kipnis returns, and Encarnacion comes around, the offense will be fine. Edwin generally has miserable Aprils (.239 hitter in April from 2014-2016 which includes a relatively warm .250 start last year) so the fact that he has come out cold is no great surprise.

Kluber with a complete game shutout, the 4th in his career.

Good home stand with two 2 of 3 series wins to finish 14-10 in April.
That was a hell of a 3rd inning we had today.

Great pithing results in a series win at Kansas City this weekend despite only scoring 5 total runs

Maybe it's just as well that Carrasco and Salazar weren't available for World Series pitching last year. Neither one has shown themselves to be reliable and to be counted on. Too many homeruns with walks so far this year. Tribe is just treading water right now. I know, it's early.

Don't worry boys and girls: it's just mid-May, or the 1/4 watermark. Can't wait until September when that's the line.

I don't know how Francona can take Clevenger out of the starting rotation when Kluber comes off the DL.

1st place in the division, better record than last year at this point, and just swept the best team record-wise in the AL in their house.
So far so good.

Mr. francona has had enough of the complacency and half-hearted play of this bunch of y(w)ahoos. think if things don't improve by end of month, a few heads (or arms) may roll.

After attending last night's game I've now seen 27 of the 30 MLB teams in person. The 3 I'm missing are SF, SD and ARI.
And after the Dodgers homer off Miller for the 2nd straight night, the Tribe has fallen back to .500, though are only 2 games out of first.

This is the wrong season to be playing the NL west. Sadly enough I've been to so many Reds and Indians games that I've seen all 30 and I wasn't even trying to.

Total domination by the Tribe over the O's tonight in Baltimore.
Kluber with a complete game shutout with 11 K's, and the offense explodes for 12 runs. EE and Ramirez remain red hot, with Ramirez now having a streak of 7 straight games with multiple hits.

This thing this year where they beat the Twins in Minnesota and lose to them in Cleveland is weird....currently 7-0 up there and 1-4 down here.

It's not just the Twins. This team is 15-19 at home and 24-15 on the road.
