Yeah great success for many years but failed to stay 8 teams in the end. NOL and SBC were 7 teams with schools with double plus enrollment for boys in football between competing schools. That was a valid case for the small schools. As the Lake schools who call the little guys cry babies still doesn’t allow Fremont Ross in. Which is comparable in difference in size and not as bad in percentage. Just because this conference calls it’s self SBC it’s not the old SBC. It is a new conference. Hybrid multiple leagues. Anyhow the divisions were for Football. It’s the best deal as school can flex up or down which maybe a lot more relevant decade to decade rather than year to year. Some one is going to be small but it’s a better flexible option than the old failed format. Now Willard and Vermilion having internal problems not conference problems. Willard losing to firelands schools shows they need to improve but it’s not as bad as Sandusky putting 77 points on them. But yes those leagues do fail to continue under old format and this is the best setup. That is my point

This SBC is great for wrestling with the exception of the Lake having their own conference tournament this year. Under the circumstances I guess that worked too for 2021. Didn’t agree with it but I haven’t agreed with anything this year. I do believe if 8 schools break off to form a league they will not have the stability they have now. They also may not get back what they have now. The SBC, NOL and the MAL all failed and the new SBC is where we are regardless of a school that leaves or complains. Besides they may or at least have the option to be back in two years. Flexibility is key for the SBC and that is the reality and thinking outside the traditional box is the only route. The conference doesn’t fix internal problems. Whether it be the Community or Administrative, unfortunately some suffer from both. Fix your chair and quit crying about the table!

State Champs. Edison home of the 2nd place trophy, again Actually that is the highest finish for Edison in the individual state tournament. Edison did get 2nd in state duals two years ago but unfortunately Edison won state duals the last two years. Sorry to break that to you, now sit up and pay attention!

If it was normal full conference, I Believe Miller would go 195, doesnt matter as he would win Either 195 or 220. This year would of been an battle of quality kids at every weight. Im glad they got them in how they did, but I wonder how they were able to handle full middle school conference tournament in Lakota but not high school? I understand the 17 days mark incase of sectionals an the virus, but Norwalk just had 3-4 teams at their place yesterday morning. Anyways congrats to all champs. True, I believe Miller would have been 195. Though he has wrestled half the time at 220 this year. Also on the regular weekend for SBC Bret Minnick probably would have been back for Tiffin Columbian and would of won 132. Some of these guys did wrestle each other in duals and were some close matches. Hopefully next year we can have the full SBC tournament again.

Trolling.....,,, Scout is a new handle with one post. I got a feeling he is from Willard and enjoyed 25 good years of High School Basketball under Haas and all the “home grown” move ins and transfers they got.

How many of the Edison wrestlers are actually from Milan? 106,120,152,182,195,220,285 are from Milan. The rest either moved in for wrestling or drive there. So the way it looks to me is Edison wouldn't be half the team they are without transfers. The rest of the SBC, teams like Bellevue, Oak Harbor, Clyde etc are all home grown kids. Edison wouldn't have beaten any of those D1 and D2 teams without transfers this is how that team is built. Yeah the above weights are correct as far as I can tell. But you are incorrect about all those schools above having homegrown kids. I know two schools above that have transfers for wrestling. Some schools are so poor in supporting wrestling that if your kid is committed he has to transfer. My youngest son got half his points for his middle school schedule this year at his home school. We will probably be looking in a couple years for a school that supports wrestling.

They could never leave it up to the Bay schools to choose Lake or River SBC tournament. Edison would pick River, And continue to Boo Hoo that they're not in the River League for all sports, Especially Freshman football. Edison wrestling would take the whole conference on and win it like they have the last four years out right.

I have a question--How many of the Edison wrestlers did not grow up in Milan and went to school there most of their lives? Great question! Probably not as many as Willard has had for basketball over the years. Also a good chunk are from Berlin Heights.

10:00 Saturday starts the showdown of a very competitive wrestling conference. Gonna have a lot of great matches! Does anyone know how Norwalk is setting up for this. Wondering if four mats in main gym and/or is their smaller gym being used? Any one in the know?

Football seems to be the only driving force. Might be time to make Football Conferences separate from other sports as far as the conference they belong to. Also having a couple conferences combine for sports like wrestling, similar to what the three SBC divisions do now, and possibly other sports. Especially for smaller schools anyhow to boost numbers for better competition. From my own opinion some sports are happier with their conference and they get dragged to where ever Football lands them. Oak Harbor Wrestling belongs in the SBC as far as I see it. Willard lady tennis is very happy in the SBC but you keep hearing how the school wants in the N10 that doesn’t even sponsor tennis. Getting close to time to do things differently.

Why do you keep putting Willard up? They only have two guys back with a winning record. Correct? Slone and Rothhoar, Actually more than that, the Juan kid at 126 last year is pretty good and was wrestling hurt. If healthy he could do well. Only lost their hwt for the most part . They finished ninth over all last year and I think they will again.

Arguments for taking both of them that I see. 1. Puts the league back at 10.... 2. Gives the league 10 football participating schools. Only one pesky non league game. 3. Adding quality competition in some sports. Not all but some. 4. Proximity to the other schools. Still not terrible drives for games. 5. Willard is shrinking and Crestline is growing so they are comparable with the other N10 school's Arguments for not taking them 1. ITS WILLARD. 2. Both schools have issues with numbers in football. That will make 3 schools on the cusp of 8 man football. Buckeye Central will be looking at 8 man next year I have heard. 3. Volleyball, basketball, softball and baseball all will not like losing nonconference games. 18 of 22 games in conference. 4. Its WILLARD..... It’s the N10, no thanks. Willard will stay in the SBC! Thanks for considering us though

Crestline, Buckeye Central, and Bucyrus should join the new Creek division in the SBC for 8 man football. with Danbury, SMCC, St. Joe and Willard that would be 7. Three more schools and scheduling would be perfect. A school like Willard who would have 100+ boys enrollment advantage over St.Joe and St.Mary has no business playing 8 man. Is there a rule on enrollment for playing 8 man football? If not then I would think it would be the right direction for the program.

SBC should beat every one to the punch and start the “Creek Division” for 8 man football. I think with Danbury, SMCC, and St. Joe we have a start. ......,what? This just in! Willard showing interest in the Creek Division. Looks like we got four teams Jim!

How many schools in the N10 have soccer, tennis, swimming, and bowling? Would Willard have to play an independent schedule in those sports? Soccer 6, Tennis 7, Swimming 3, Bowling 5. So they would have to schedule a very similar amount of not league events. I just looked at the N10 site. I didn’t see tennis, soccer, or bowling as conference sports. I did see swimming......

How many schools in the N10 have soccer, tennis, swimming, and bowling? Would Willard have to play an independent schedule in those sports? This is exactly why Willard should not leave the SBC. But decisions made in Willard have never been what is best. So many other sports are better off in the SBC and Football wouldn’t win in any conference in the area. Willard Girls tennis has won SBC three years in a row. Now leave for a conference that doesn’t even have tennis. No thank you!
