And if your school is a public school in the State of Ohio, they are bound by state law as determined by state judges. If you are a principal and have the choice of violating an OHSAA bylaw or a state court ruling, which do you choose? So basically what you're saying is do away with any transfer or switching school rules out there and make it a free for all? Since they can't even be allowed to get past step one, whats the sense of having anything in place?? Go ahead, go back to the old days of free for all.... Private schools would dominate once again... Sadly, with situations like these where the students and their parents think that the rules don't apply to them, I also fear that we are headed that direction.

So if parents are getting a Divorce and the kids decide to move with one of their parents to another school district and that parent does have an address there they still can only play 5 games ...? I believe this is what’s happening to the Downing boys!! I wouldn’t say that is recruiting that is transferring due to marriage break up? If that parent does not have primary custody, then it's not a legal move relative to the bylaws.

They (NWDAB) could go several ways. Madison: Sandusky, Mansfield Senior, Norwalk, Lexington, Vermilion, Perkins, Shelby, Ontario, Clear Fork, Edison, Galion, Huron (12) ONU: Wapakoneta, Celina, Elida, Shawnee, St. Marys, Van Wert, Upper Sandusky, Kenton, Defiance, Bryan (or Napoleon), Tiffin Columbian (11) Toledo: Rogers, Woodward, Maumee, Scott, Rossford, Oak Harbor, Port Clinton, Bellevue, Clyde, Napoleon (or Bryan), Wauseon (11) OR Madison: Mansfield Senior, Norwalk, Lexington, Vermilion, Shelby, Ontario, Clear Fork, Edison, Galion, Huron, Upper Sandusky, Tiffin Columbian (12) ONU: Wapakoneta, Celina, Elida, Shawnee, St. Marys, Van Wert, Kenton, Defiance, Napoleon, Bryan, Wauseon (11) Toledo: Rogers, Woodward, Maumee, Scott, Rossford, Oak Harbor, Port Clinton, Sandusky, Perkins, Clyde, Bellevue (11) OR None of the above. In your 2nd scenario, take Upper away from Mansfield and add it to ONU and I think you'll have what it will be.

parking lot and bleachers will be paid for by the norwalk city school district and will be completed before the start of the season. the turf needs to be a project done between the two schools. norwalk athletic boosters committed their share of the project, sp could did not come up with their half, so turf will not happen this season. Why are St.Paul and Norwalk not jointly raising the money? Seems ludacrisnot to combine resources instead of trying a two prong aproach. Unless the public/private combo prohibits a 501c from being formed for the effort. What does a nationally known rapper have to do with this???

Yet none of those was cited as a reason for the move. Were they dumb enough to say the reason for the move was for a sport?? BTW, the basketball and soccer players that have moved to Ontario have used better academics as the reason. I was once asked what to say. I told them not to worry, from Mansfield to Ontario academics is a reason that would never be challenged. But I also told them not to try to get away with just renting a trailer for the address, actually move. Ontario administrators check and would turn them in. “We wanted to transfer Kaia to either Toledo Notre Dame or Hopewell-Loudon,” Woods said. “Her mom was able to find a house in the Hopewell school district.” "We love Tiffin Columbian and everything they have done for Kaia,” Woods said. “With the coaching situation changing, we felt it was best to move.” These are just a few things her dad said in the newspaper. Quotes like this will raise some eyebrows and red flags.

Moved for better academics? Moved to attend a smaller school(250 vs 800)? Moved to live out in the country vs in the city? Allowable reasons. Yet none of those was cited as a reason for the move.

St. Wendelin shut its doors after the most recently completed 18-19 school year. Enrollment dropped by almost half after they closed the HS portion of the building following the 17-18 school year.

It should be noted that Upper and Huron both made D2 by one boy. They are tied for the smallest D2 school in the state.

I think it's been expanded enough through 8 teams per region and then adding a 7th division.

I hate to be a downer but Coldwater wins this game because their rugged MAC schedule will have them prepared. The lights will be too bright for Willard. Probably the dumbest thing said on this thread. Doesn't look so dumb now, now does it?

I'm pretty sure I am in the minority on this, but I'll say it anyway.....if you are going to openly accuse an opponent of "recruiting," then you better have proof and report it to the OHSAA. Otherwise, IMO, you are engaging in slander, and it is a bad look for you and your school district. The previous 7 times you played them, you didn't make such an insinuation, so why is this time any different?

The problem isn't the open enrollment formula or how many students are open enrolled. The problem is that "PUBLIC" schools manipulate their enrollment to stay within a certain athletic division, which never seems to be division 1.Private schools are an entirely different boat. But to tell me that a "PUBLIC" school in the Columbus City School District has less than 200 girls enrolled, there must be a different meaning to the word "PUBLIC" that they teach in Franklin County. Do you really believe that? I mean, when tax dollars are often at stake, do you believe that is a district's main motivation?

Willard Lady Flashes 45, Shelby Lady Whippets 34. Willard's reward? A District Final with Lady Red on Saturday. I genuinely believe that Willard will give Bellevue a pretty good game.

Can someone explain the D3 District - Columbus 1 going into the BG Regional to me? Missing several teams/seeds from the bracket posted on OHSAA website. Something tells me Rob Taylor is responsible for this 😁 Long story short, there are a disproportionate # of teams in certain divisions in certain areas of the state. Thus it is necessary to bring in teams from outside the area to fill out the regional. This has been the M.O. recently.

I'm not sure how it is everywhere, but in the Central District records are due Friday morning and seeds are due Saturday morning. Maybe they do it differently north of Columbus, but if not that Saturday matchup could still influence which half of the bracket teams could try to avoid. Pretty sure seeding has to be in by Sunday morning but not 100% on that.. Even if before sat and St Paul beats them but gets a lower seed they could be interested in playing them in the tourney instead of someone else. Changes were made this year. Voting window opened at 10 am Saturday and closed at 11 am Sunday. This was done to allow teams to include Saturday games in their information. Seeds aren't posted on the website until 1:00, so some schools will be traveling when they find out.

I'll ask the question everyone is thinking about. Was there a handshake? Yes. Before and after. But Sheldon took a veiled shot at McCreary in the paper after the game. And the CC students chanted "DON'T COME BACK" near the end.

Upper committed only 6 turnovers to CC's 13 and was a perfect 10 of 10 from the FT line, whereas CC was only 5 of 13. Yet Upper lost by 1 because it can't make shots right now. Take away the blowout to Lexington and the other 3 losses were by a combined 4 points.

I remember once my old coach came into locker room after a sub par effort in 1st half against a inferior team and didn’t say one word. He just looked around room and made eye contact with each and every player then walked out. We turned a halftime deficit into a 20 point win. Sometimes that’s all it takes. I do not see Mohawk as an inferior team and it sounds like your coach was a psycho. Neither are similar to this occurrence. I wonder if Winslow stuck around and shook hands after the loss?Yes, he did.

Poor choice of words on my part. Should have said what seemed like 30 seconds. Anyways, Mohawk's 2-3 zone seemed to give Upper fits offensively. Be interesting to see if more teams use that approach. Fair enough. At least you are man enough to admit it.
