It is my understanding that Smith created quite a stir among observers at summer kicking camps & clinics! He is definitely a talent to watch.

The resurrected Press Box in Norwalk has not disappointed my family yet. Casa Bravos (by Drug Mart) is our favorite - great staff, and even better food. The Feve in Oberlin is very good as well.

The Whitney Field Improvement Committee includes representatives from both schools, as well as community members. We are very fortunate in Norwalk to have so many businesses/individuals that are willing to step in and donate/reduce rate services to help get many of these jobs completed.
Coon's Concrete is at Whitney today extending the pad for the visitors' bleachers. There were crews working in the parking lot earlier this week.
To my knowledge, turf was originally in phase I of this multi-phase project, with bleachers & parking lot issues needing to be addressed immediately. Phase I may not be finished until next season, but it is promising to see the work already accomplished!
Phases 2 (track) & 3 (drainage & walkways) will take place at later dates.
There are several articles (and photos of today's concrete pouring) in the Norwalk Reflector.

From what I heard this weekend, several of Valentine's coaches have resigned. Could be a tough upcoming season.

Brick Oven is one of our favorites. Also don't get there often enough. Their sandwiches are very good as well as the appetizers. Love their bruschettas, and the mozzarella sticks are handmade on site. Delicious!

Huron Invite has been canceled So has the Fostoria Invite. As a spectator, I can't say that I'm disappointed to not have to sit out in the rain and cold. However, this is Ohio. Weather is unpredicatable. We are taking competition opportunities away as the invites are not made up. They aren't going to cancel district, regional, and state meets because it is rainy and cold. The athletes have to get used to competing in all types of weather.

I'd have to add Chris Spielman and Keith Byars to the list.
My husband would add Bernie Kosar to the list only to remove Ben.

I agree. I can remember being at the Perkins Invite 2 or 3 years ago and experiencing every type of weather in just that one day. Started cloudy and 50's and by 11 it was pouring and chilly and by 1 it was hailing and we finished with snow.
Last year's Lexington Invite was held and we laughed at the first 3 flights of girls that had to search for their discs under the snow. But they need that experience - it's Ohio!!!

Margaretta Relays also cancelled.
My daughters said that their coaches got an email from Perkins on Thursday stating that they were considering cancelling the meet due to impending weather. They also said field events would most likely be cancelled even if the meet wasn't. Perkins discus area is usually a swamp (as are many - that's the nature of the event).
They received official word on Friday afternoon stating the invite (runners & throwers) was cancelled. I think they were expecting the weather to be worse than it turned out. We did get nasty weather later in the day - but more towards the evening.

Saw a number of people on here put the Pizza Post in Norwalk down as one of their favorites. So this past weekend we stopped and tried it. Got to say I feel sorry for the people in Norwalk if that’s what you considered best pizza. None of us were impressed, it was thin, greasy and lacked flavor. The pit pie is what you have to try at the Pizza Post. It is very different from a foldover as it has both a top crust and a bottom crust - which allows the top crust to get a little crispier on the outside but stay soft inside. Delicious!!! When I worked there years ago, we would have people from out of town order 1/2 baked pit pies that they would ask us to box up so they could take home to freeze, and finish baking to eat at a later date. They couldn't find anything like it near them.

Norwalk will go to Tiffin next Tuesday for their first dual meet. Then on Saturday, the 30th they will go to the Perkins Invite. Always interesting weather at this time of year.

My daughter, a track recruit, got an email from the university this morning. A sad situation, but the university is restructuring and looking to save $1 million from this cut. So far, they say that no other sports will be affected.
They also moved up the vote so they could announce this decision before the Feb 6 national signing deadline. Sounds as if they are doing what they can to bring in other schools to talk to players interested in transferring. The university has said they will honor all football & merit scholarships for players who choose to stay at Malone and finish their education.
