Thursday lost Gomes for season due to broken hand from last game of rehab trip. Today Carassco hit by line drive. Not a great few days.

Tribe hitting (especially with RISP) is awful. Maybe Napoli a game off or something. Clutch hitting recently has been nonexistent. Only awful on the road.

Love the moxey and spunk of this team and probably will make the playoffs and maybe win the division but the injuries are crippling. Honestly, in retrospect, think Clevinger and Tomlin will be okay as starters, but remember only can carry 25 players on playoff roster, I believe. Hoynsie was not too smart in writing his story in the PD about the Tribe's chances, but he is dead-on. Also, save for a few notable exceptions, the Tribe's run production has really slowed down. frankie is struggling big-time, as is Napoli and Nanquin. And you can't diminish or hide the black hole behind the plate. Still, it's been fun and a welcome distraction from that embarrassment down by the lakefront. BTW, what is the record for most consecutive new starting QBs in weekly succession in the NFL? Clowns have had a new starting QB in each of their last five games (dating back to last regular season games). Heard a rumor that Medical Mutual has cancelled the health insurance policy on browns QBs LOL.

If they could have somehow just found a way to get that Brewers catcher in here instead of losing him to the Rangers I believe they'd be the 1 seed right now instead of the Rangers.

Magic number is now 5 (with no final yet from Detroit's game. Edit: and now it's PPD)
And with tonight's win, the Indians have mathematically eliminated Kansas City from the Central Division race.

Magic number is now 4, and the Indians and Rangers are now tied in the loss column for the #1 seed, with Boston one game back. Note, TEX and BOS both own tiebreakers over us for seeding.

Annoying to lose these 2 straight to Chicago and blow a chance to clinch at home. But it was nice of Detroit to go ahead and lose 2 straight as well, so now the magic number is down to 1, meaning the Indians have clinched at least a tie for the division.

So this rainout yesterday may or may not be played on Monday depending on whether it will affect playoff spots or seeding. It could matter for the wildcard, as Detroit is currently 1 game back in the loss column of both Toronto and Baltimore who are tied for the 2 WC spots. It could also matter for home field advantage in the ALDS, as the Indians are tied in the loss column with Boston. Though since Boston owns the tiebreaker over the Indians, we would need to finish ahead of them to get the 2 seed.

Here's the scenario Indians fans should be rooting for on Sunday. If this happens the Indians can both clinch home field in the ALDS and eliminate the need to play game 162 on Monday in Detroit:
Cleveland beats Kansas City Toronto beats Boston Baltimore beats New York (OR) Atlanta beats Detroit

Well, all 4 of those games went our way. Indians clinch home field. Detroit eliminated. Game 162 is not needed, so for the 2nd straight season the Indians will only play 161 regular season games.
