Genoa won't go to the SBC and be put in the Bay.
No way their fans will accept going to Vermilion (and to a lesser extent) Huron on a school night for HS kids, much less for the JH games.
And if Genoa won't go, I have a hard time seeing any of those other three schools going, when their drives would be longer...
Everyone always thinks only about FB and BB, but forgot all the other sports where the Board has to deal with complaints as well.

Highland job went to Ty Stover.
Mt. Gilead should have someone soon, and approved at their next Board meeting next Tuesday.

All of Ontario basketball teams, 7th grade and up are on hold due to being contact traced. The very good elementary program was halted due THE virus. Couple that with missed in class learning. I can't fathom the effects to their generation's minds and bodies and the stress brought upon their parents. AND IMO a lot of what has been done to them is unfounded the more we learn about school aged kids and THE virus. The mental challenges these kids face are heartbreaking. Every day it’s ‘walking on glass’ hoping you don’t get Covid or aren’t contact traced. A lot of kids have just quit playing sports/activities/etc. just because it’s a lot of work/practice time to see seasons shortened or cancelled. All with scientific evidence that younger adults/teenagers are least susceptible. I’m fortunate enough that my sons still have the drive to play sports, but if the contract tracing/quarantine doesn’t end soon, I’m fearful we will see a lot more kids quit Then get ready for more kids to quit...our County Health Board just told us after meetings with ODH, that even if you GET the vaccine, if you are within 6 feet/15 minutes of a COVID positive person, you will be quarantined for at least 10 days. That's WITH the vaccine. We were told it is because even though you probably won't get sick or be affected, you would then be a carrier, passing it on to others. Think what all this does not only to kids, but to the economy as a whole....

love to see huron vs calvert matchup volleyball next season.it would be awesome. Ummm... we do graduate the franchise, 7 seniors all the 6 footers are gone, the setter is gone, the libero is gone, an outside is gone, a DS is gone.. although i like who we have coming back, we won't be scheduling calvert, that wouldve been a major challenge this year... let alone next.. Didn't know that you are losing all those players...just thought it would be fun for both teams if all things were equal. With Calvert bringing that much back next year, I hope they schedule "UP" to challenge their team with bigger schools. It always fun to see David vs. Goliath, even if David loses...and that kind of competition is always good for the kids. Congrats on the title sportsvideo, good to see TWO SBC teams getting the big trophy. Shame the game couldn't happen next year, I and a lot of people would have liked to go to that one!

congrats to our extended volleyball family at Calvert.. what a great group of fine folks.. SBC volleyball is alive and well 2 state champs a regional runner up. can't ask for much more than that out of the 3 divisions.... Camella and Shoemaker need to make this non-conference match happen for next year. Would be fun for the kids and the fans....

Not necessarily. I knew before that pronouncement by Leipsic that the NWC had already offered Leipsic. Don't get me wrong, maybe they will take it next week. But if you were gonna take it anyway, ask yourself this...why wait? Just have the Board withdraw from the BVC in one vote, and then accept the offer from the NWC in the next. Done. But that didn't happen....and I'm sure Jafo has heard some of the same things I have. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Apparently, Boggs has picked someone, and it's not Stroll. Some guy who has never run an Athletic Department before...at any level. From what I was told they had applicants with AD experience that did not get an interview. SMH. More of the same. Reminds me of a drunken Jack Sparrow leading the Pirate Ship. Laughable. Was the hire TS from Fremont? Heard that was his pick when it opened up. Stroll didn't apply. Now public and official: sanduskyregister.com/news/176991/perkins-schools-expands-preschool-program

Boggs is forcing Smith out as AD. Here’s the kicker, he’s forcing McVeigh out as well. That's the word on the street. Someone mentioned McVeigh as possible AD but that makes little sense. Stroll was on the football search committee which tells me he's likely to come back as AD. D-y-s-f-u-n-c-t-i-o-n.Apparently, Boggs has picked someone, and it's not Stroll. HL plays no one not taking anything from Margaretta they do have a very fine team and wish them the very best!!! It really sucks at this level because these so called public schools recruit as well as the Catholics. Anybody that says they don't is either a liar or bending the rules to the point of breaking them.. Good luck Margaretta Girls.. I am sure you will play your best when you seem to have talented D-1 level players in your freshman class that goes through the system one year after another.. something would see odd about that... every school has that "one class" but not 4 or 5 or 6 in a row... this paticular public school in columbus has 3 division I players on this team, and they had a couple that graduated last year.. not to mention the past 10 years a half dozen more.. isn't it odd no other school is that lucky?? that has a public funded school to its name? They also have an "entrance test" I have been told. Wonder who passes that, and who gets lower scores, LOL. Great at basketball, 100%! Bad at basketball, 67%!! Wonder who grades that thing..... That said, they are (and have been) straight up gaming the system...here's how: As many of you know in competitive balance, Tier 0 counts as a 0, Tier 1 counts as a 1, and Tier 2 counts as I think 5 in basketball. Here is what Africentric does.... Here is the counts for Boys basketball this year for Africentric: Tier 0: 2 players Tier 1: 37 players (do not live within the boundaries of the school district-open enrolled-and came to the school at the beginning of the 7th grade) Tier 2: 1 player (open enrolled and came to the school after the beginning of the 9th grade) It keeps your count low, and still allows you to (if needed) bring in a D1 super stud after 9th grade and count them as a Tier 2, since you are keeping your numbers low with a team full of Tier 1's. As for the girls: Tier 0: 2 players Tier 1: 14 players Tier 2: 0 players Bringing kids in at the beginning of 7th grade allows schools to watch them in AAU in 5th and 6th grade and get the very best when 7th grade comes, and still keep the competitive balance number down, so the school stays in the lowest Division possible. And seeing 37 players as Tier 1 pretty much ends any naivete regarding it. Their school/administration can say whatever they want. sure looks like a "plan", doesn't it? Good luck Margaretta.....the deck is stacked against you. By the way, if you are wondering about Margaretta's numbers, here they are: Tier 0: 19 players (live in the district) Tier 1: 3 players Tier 2: 0 players In other words, Margaretta is a bunch of players that are and have been living in Castalia. Vs. the ultimate open enrollment program. Hope the Lady Polar Bears can pull it out.

I would think if Woodmore was poached away, the NBC would be looking at Northwood Sounds like Northwood was the ones approaching the SBC on the matter... Northwood had originally approached Calvert about creating a league with (what are now) the River Division schools about 8-9 years ago. So this has been a long time coming....not surprised.

Calvert would get serious heat from the Diocese of Toledo for ditching SJCC & SMCC (again) and then leaving Cardinal Stritch without a conference. But then, it didn't stop them from going to the TAAC the first time. Will be interesting... Not sure the Bishop really addresses such issues. I think separation is the path to preservation for Calvert. LOL. He sure did last time....Calvert got a ton of heat from Toledo for separating from SJCC. But the Diocese had previously given Calvert the right canonically to have their own school board and make their own decisions. A decision they later regretted (Blair was the bishop then). But in terms of today, it doesn't matter to me what they do. They should do what is best for their kids and school. We will see what happens. Personally, want to see them stay together with SJCC. Always felt that way. Always will. But times change.

Cardinal Stritch has stacked their basketball team to the point I would suspect they would be deal breakers. Margaretta is outside the footprint. And North Baltimore is in the heart of the Blanchard. The other 8 should have and could have formed a league many years ago. Makes too much sense to ever happen. Calvert would get serious heat from the Diocese of Toledo for ditching SJCC & SMCC (again) and then leaving Cardinal Stritch without a conference. But then, it didn't stop them from going to the TAAC the first time. Will be interesting...

the N10 would call Northmor first Odds are pretty high Northmor will decline. They are in the central district and are happy with the KMAC. They will decline it. But it is still a better fit than Crestline and Willard for the N10's needs.

Someone posted in the N10 forum that Buckeye Central might be looking into it too If that happens, it would create Willard's best chance to get into N10 the N10 would call Northmor first

The "winter ballers" might quit, fore going getting used to being hit. They can’t just quit without jeopardizing suspension of games in basketball. School rule, I assume?

Nobody’s in or out. Highland is at the geographic center of the conference, and frankly no one wants them to leave. I personally think no matter how many times the MOAC tries to pull Highland, it will be very hard to break ties.
That said, Utica is positioning itself very well in case something ever should happen. Because they are smart enough to know that there are others schools interested in the KMAC as well. You build bonds with the teams/schools so the transition is easy, whenever the day comes.
Just my opinion, but the KMAC is good as it is. Well-designed with everyone in close proximity. Nothing against Utica. Just saying they are ready if it ever happens.

Pirates won all of their scrimmages.....Upper, Utica, Willard. But are already very beat up going into the season with very low numbers again. 😔 That's too bad to hear that the team is already beat up a bit. I was thinking if they could stay healthy that they would probably have some decent depth this season, at least with the skill positions. Cool to hear that they won all their scrimmages though.
Glad to hear the Indians won their scrimmage with Utica as well.
So in scrimmages and non league play Utica played/will play the entire KMAC except for Northmor and Danville. That’s called a signal.

21-0 isn’t really that bad considering that fact that Tiffin is better then any team in your conference. Plus, they get to practice all year long.

Now Susie Fevler. She is at Sylvania Southview now. Top 5 AD in Ohio. Right on the money, man. Susie could sell ice cream to eskimos. And a blast to be around. Susie is actually an assistant principal now at a McCord Junior High in Sylvania. Not sure how long but I believe this is going to be at least her second year. If so. I am happy for her. But it’s a shame because she was a darn good AD. AD job doesn’t leave much time for family though, so not surprised.

Just like Sandusky & SMCC have worked so well together in the past. I think SMCC get's to play on Strobel for next to nothing. And did minimal fund raising? Susan Sackett, who was the Sandusky AD in 2010, and got the turf done. NOBODY else. It was her priority #1-#100, and she met with Kinzel, played the both the community and SSMCC cards, and the deal was struck. She is the best AD that very few ever heard of during her time, nor will recall a decade later. To say that SSMCC had "nothing" to do with this is discounting Kinzel's strong ties as an alum, which can't be truly measured. Need further proof, when asked for input on improving "The Den," Kinzel essentially gave SSMCC a blank check, which garnered the family "naming rights." Now Susie Fevler. She is at Sylvania Southview now. Top 5 AD in Ohio. Right on the money, man. Susie could sell ice cream to eskimos. And a blast to be around.
