Fan, I never heard that story before, thanks for sharing it with us. Bring some of those strawberries here, I love strawberries. When I was young my family and I went strawberry picking one time and when we were done mom went to pay for them, the guy told her the price and mom got mad saying he added up wrong and they did not pick that many qrts. But the guy told her that we did because he was watching me picking but instead of putting them in the baskets, I was eating most of the product right from the vine. Did I mention that I love strawberries.

BB, Now I know why we are all so confuse when it comes to understanding the playoff system. You get a team in there who schedules a team from 1aa or less, to a team that schedules nothing but top notch schools, like Ohio State. To a team that is the only undefeated in the 1a and not get invited. We can't make up our minds on who was National Champions certain years in one poll and another team in a different poll. Please someone send a straight jacket to me and take me away.

I notice that there are 3 coaches in the top 25 that has coach at Michigan at one time or another and only 1 that has coached at Ohio State. And where is the great Woody Hayes at on the chart. Can anybody tell me that. Woody is well down the list with a .759 winning %, but well above Lloyd Carr at .753 Keep in mind, the complete list has a mix of coaches at lower divisions that have admirable accomplishments, but we are limiting this to major college football. Interesting Urban's 12-2 season kept him at .851 for the second consecutive year. Saban inched a percentage point or so closer to the great Bear Bryant (#18), still 3 percentage points to go, but creeping ever closer. There is also another thing that Woody has more of than Lloyd has and that's National Championships. Woody has 3 of them and Lloyd only has 1. Do you happen to know how many National Championships does Ohio State have in football. I know Michigan has 11 of them but still think that Notre Dame has the most. I think Nick Saban might pass Bear if not this year than next year.

I've seen it. Geographically, that area of Ohio is fascinating. Doc, I can remember when I had my dad as a Ohio History teacher he was telling the class that between the revolutionary war and the war of 1812, there was a renegade named Simon Girty, who sided with the Indians, he made hide out in the Great Black Swamp and no matter how hard they tried they could never find him. Also if it wasn't for Congress, Toledo would be in Michigan and a war between Michigan and Ohio would have started but because of The Great Black Swamp, Ohio's Troops couldn't cross the swamp and Michigans troops was already in Toledo. Leave it to our Congressman to mess things up. What stories of our area that we like so well, do you have that's fascinating.

Maybe we should start this in High School. I remember when I was playing football way back then, we very seldom came out of the locker room for the national anthem and a lot of teams up here still don't come out until after the anthem has been played. Should we have a rule here in Ohio stating that high school teams must come out and stand still for our Anthem and the fans should stop where they are at and face our flag instead of running around, talking loud and laughing. And we need to show more respect for the flag, a flag that our young men have defended and some that have died for.

Well she worked very hard at it and the coaches saw the dedication she put in this year. She deserves it and when she continues with that same dedication then next year if things go right she should make it down to Columbus.

LONG before the ice age that part of the world was a tropical ocean, that's where all the sand came from. You can see the edge of an old inland sea along Sand Ridge road in BG. Least u could when I lived there. Hence the name. Doc, The public TV station there at BG one time came out with a VHS on The History of the Great Black Swamp and they mention that in it. They also mention that when the first pioneers came into the area they had to deal with the American Indians along with Rattlers (oh, how I hate snakes), wolfs, panthers and a whole mess of Mosquitoes.

Picabo, I forgot to tell you that I cut the pitcher out of the paper and I'll give it to your mother when I would see her for our meeting next week.

Sports, It was once said that Northwest Ohio is a perfect example of what the ice age has done in the past. And Wood Co. you can trace where the ice age has stopped because of the sandy ridges. Those were shoreline beaches, minus bikinis and lifeguards. Sports, I thought that Willard was hired as a lifeguard when he was still in High School back then. ROFL Till I Died.

Sports, You have that right about the farm land. My great-great-great-great grandfather came to the black swamp to clear the land for a farm and raise a family. My dad was born and raised in Putnam Co. and I can remember him telling me stories about how rich the soil is and the best ground to raise crops and kids their is. If we keep growing and take over the farms we are going to lose the best fertile land there is. I wish instead of these city folks coming out to the country and building new homes and bringing their problems from the city, they stay home fix the problems and renovate the old homes and live in the city. I was in Detroit a few weeks ago and you should see the area that was once homes block after blocks but now the city destroyed all the homes and there is a vast empty area of concrete after concrete. The land is going to take years after years to recover.

Sports, I knew that Pburg and BG was growing for the last 10 to 15 years now. It amazes me that as a kid I could remember that a lot of the new stuff was all farm land, of course this was back in the 60's & 70's, now look at it. And from what I heard from relatives and friends in the area they are not done yet with more jobs and factories coming in. It wouldn't surprise me that both of the schools would be D-1 soon the way they are growing.

Congratulations to Norwalk pole vaulters Owen Rhodes & Jake Sommers! Both are moving on to the state tournament next week. Owen placed 2nd at the Amherst regional with a new school record of 15 feet! (previous record was 14' 6") Jake placed 3rd with a vault of 14' 8". Exciting to think that after roughly 30 years of no pole vault at Norwalk, we have 2 state contenders within just a couple years of the event returning. These boys have put in so much time and effort into training - I'm so happy to see it pay off for them! Picabo, When does your girls toss and if they did how did they do?

Willard, That's what Baseball is about. Making that small play and advancing the runners to where they would score and more often. I have seen to many teams lose a game even though they may have men on base because they think about going yard and they either strike out or they hit unto a double play or pop up and ending what could have been a lot of run producing inning. Good luck Ontario.

Birdman, You are right on with the single parent and it's only getting worse. My wife and I waited awhile before we decided to start a family and we made sure we had money in the bank and insurance and this was 5 years after we got married. We had every thing planned out on what would happen, like one of the boys breaking a bone or needs a operation, also if something would happen to either my wife or me like an operation. I think some of the reason we did this is because we saw how our parents did it and having them teach us the same ways. Another was back in high school we had to take business education course and that showed you how to balance your checking, getting insurance, food, clothing, savings and all the other things you need to make a better life for you and your family. Every parent wants their children to do better than them and I am very proud to say that my sons are doing it because their mother and I have taught them right even though they don't have business education anymore. Some times I think our schools should go back and teach the old ways that worked for us and our parents. Time for me to get off my soap box and thanks for listening.

I know Willard and Norwalk are of different size, but Norwalk does use it's PAC an awful lot. Not only the school uses it for band concerts, plays, pep rally's and awards ceremony's but local company's also use it for meetings and trainings. Even our Elem. Schools and Jr.Hi. School uses it for their concerts. In a room next to stage area it is also used for lectures and is hooked up for computers use. Maybe Willard could get their factories like Donnelly's, Pepperidge Farms, Midwest and any or all factories and maybe the muck farms could help out with this also. Good luck Willard (no not you Fillmore, the city of Willard) I hope you guys can find away to maybe work this out. A PAC can be very useful for the whole community to have. Check out Norwalk on what their PAC is being used for and by whom.

Birdman, Even if you do start out knowing the job you have can support you to start a family sometimes things happen like your job being shipped overseas, or your place of employment closes it's doors, or in my case have an accident and lose an arm, or some other part of your body. Back when my industrial accident happen if a company was cover by workman's comp. you had to take it and you can not sue the company. This was 44 years ago, now my other arm is giving me some serious problems to were I can not work any more. I also get squad ditty on social security because I am not 65 yet and I had to retired 12 years ago. So sometimes you start off on the right foot but things always get in the way that throws a wrench at you to altar plans.

I'm here to start bursting your bubbles guys but for once I can have some fun doing it. My Tigers just took 2 out of 3 from your, and my wife and boys, Indians and as of now are only 1.5 games behind them with Minnesota. Now you all have a chance to feel what I been feeling for a long time on no bull pen at all. Where has all the relief pitchers have gone to. Enjoy the moment. You haven't had many of them the past few years. I wouldn't be making any bets if you value your money. This pitching staff will find their stride. I'm not too excited at this point, the Tribe will own this division at the end of the summer. Check back in July..... Sports, Believe me I am enjoying this very much and ribbing my wife along with it. Once it get's back to normal she will get on my case royally. Right now the AL Central is the weakest division in the MLB where at one time it was the toughest. What happen? Dr. Torch, I fill your pain with the bull pen buddy. Life is a (a certain 5 letter word) isn't it.
