Apples to oranges.
The risk of injury is far greater in football. A number one seed headed to the finals could lose a key player in a meaningless blowout.
You can only play one football game per week. You can play a least two basketball games a week.

I lot of bad teams make the playoffs when you let 16 of 23 teams into the playoffs. Participation ribbons for everyone.

You also can’t wait until the second half to decide to generate some offense against the Penn States and Xichigans of the world.

And a well maintained diesel runs forever. When I was a kid we pulled a Cummins diesel engine out of a truck we had. The chassis was shot. 1950’s ish era. We used it to run a pump that pulled water from a creek to irrigate farmland and that was through the late 80’s.

I can respect that loyalty and Cleveland’s fan base is exceedingly loyal. I prefer the wording support the team. We don’t disown a family member who marries a dirtbag 😜.

Shelby 48-14 final. Highland barely handed the ball to a guy who already has 1000+ yards rushing after five games?!? Shelby’s running game is developing making them harder to defend. Devito can make some things happen when he has to improvise and he’s making better decisions throwing the ball away sometimes.

26-14 Shelby halftime. Missed the first PAT off the upright. Tried to go for two on the next TD. Got in, but a holding call brought it back. Decided to kick and a false start moved it back another five. Wide left at that point.

14-14 Shelby-Highland after one. Shelby quick score then recovered an onside kick for another. Highland then drives for one. A couple of punts then Highland drives for another. Their drive was helped a little. They had a third and one. Running play quick pitch to the back is fumbled about three yards deep in the backfield. Officials inadvertently blow the ball dead. They replay third and short instead of fourth and 4-5. In the officials defense they’re working with a four man crew.

I live with a bunch of Brown’s fans who aren’t happy he’s the quarterback. No fan has any control over that. If you are a fan who says you don’t care as long as they win then you are the reason karma haunts the Brownies. If you don’t believe in Karma because you think it’s eastern voodoo I can give you numerous Biblical references to Karma by another name.

A dirty hit?!? From a fan of a team with a rapist QB who thinks he can grab facemasks at will. What happened to Chubb sucks and I feel for him, but it was just an unfortunate accident in a game of collisions. Grabbing a guys helmet and dragging him to the ground requires intent that is unacceptable. Accusations Yep, I have no proof. Do you want your daughter alone with him in a room? I don’t. One accusation could be an opportunist. He’s settled 23/24 lawsuits according to The NY Times. The actions of an innocent man?

Neither of these teams are going to win a lot of games outside of the AFC North. The Browns had a chance with a very good defense and a solid running game. The QB just had to be passable and not turn the ball over. Unfortunately the running game got carted off the field. Pittsburgh has a decent defense and nothing else. The o line isn’t good. The running game is a joke. The QB might get there if he had an o line, a running game, and a year or two to develop behind a veteran, but the franchise didn’t plan ahead well enough for Ben’s retirement.

Yes, JV’s play on Saturday, but getting them some quality minutes on Friday night helps keep a program strong.
There are probably lots of reasons why Perkins’ head coach left his starters in and some have been mentioned. You’re naive if you don’t believe it is also to send a message. Whether there is bad blood or an attempt to make a statement about who should be the head coach at Bellevue a statement was being made.

If he wasn’t playing the best kids think of how good CF could have been.
If some of the rumors were even partially true he got dangerously close to the line. I know Shelby’s chain gang pretty well and they said he crossed over being hard on them to degrading at times and they’re old school guys themselves.
You would hope both sides would have had a sit down and found a compromise. Maybe they tried. Either way both are living with the consequences.

With current technology hybrids are the only thing that makes sense to me. You conserve energy by charging when you break/slow down. You aren’t tethered by range issues. You’ll never have to sit still for extended charging. The only downside is the more tech in a car the more that can go wrong and I bet repairs aren’t cheap.

I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but someone more tech savvy than me can get my post from the week four thread. Everyone one selling Shelby short and mine and a couple of other Shelby posters comments may have been to blame. We were getting on them about their play in the trenches. They stepped up last night. It would have been worse had it not been for some bad tackling in the first half. Both of Galion’s drives were based on big plays where 2-3 defenders made contact with the running back in a position for only a short gain and just didn’t wrap him up. I also think a big factor in the second half was which team had more two way players. you hit it with the second half play. Really seemed like Shelby wore down Galion. The one long run Winters had in the third quarter, my fat *** could’ve ran for 30 yards through that hole. The last run by Winters, looked like Galion pretty much gave up…he trucked one guy twice. Shelby did miss tackles and took bad angles on all four scoring plays. Funny you noted the pursuit angles. I made the same comment to the guys I was watching with. I brought up a pursuit angle drill we did that doubled as a conditioning drill back in the day and said Shelby could use it. I watched a guy miss a tackle because he aimed where the kid was instead of where he was going.

Shitshow by Galion. There was a bad call at end of first half that shifted things. Couple injuries on Galion’s side, but they’re getting their a ss handed to them. Shelby may win the league. With all due respect a bad call has any bearing on a 55-20 game?!?

Shelby 7-6 after one. Galion’s opening drive was two plays. One long run, one short. Shelby a sustained drive pretty balanced. Then a bunch of back and forth. Shelby currently on Galion’s 3 yard line.

Which, if true, means coaching is crucial. And I’ve made that argument for years. With rare exceptions most schools have about the same kids walking the halls. It’s the law of averages. It’s about training and conditioning them, motivating them, and coaching them on fundamentals and the system.
