I have seen them twice this year and they might not have the wins to show it but they are a much more improved team than last year. They play with a energy that they haven’t had there in a few years. New offense is coming around and the players are improving.

St. Paul has the talent to contend with most teams if used properly. I know some people question their Senior talent/leadership but here is my thoughts. This group of Seniors had a lot of success coming up and some players decided on not playing throughout their high school years. However I see a possible resurgence for this group. Here is a list of possible varsity players:
Griffin- Sr 6-6”- best shooter on the team, could have a huge year Kashian #1- Sr 6-2”- good shooter, creative player Kashian #2- Sr 6-3”- big man underneath, skilled low post Smith-Sr 5-11”- hustles and knows the game Hammersmith Sr 6-4”- good shooter, can handle the ball Avedano-Sr 5-7”- plays hard every minute Good-Sr 6-1”- will be used as a shut down defender, can take anyone off the dribble but needs to finish
Furlong-Jr 6-3”-can shoot and offers size on defense
Winslow #1-soph 6-2”- good young player will continue to improve, scoring threat Winslow #2- soph 6-2” good young player will continue to improve, scoring threat

Mapleton over SC, I hope the Trojans find a way to win.
Western over Plymouth, WR improving weekly. I personally can’t stomach watching Plymouth’s offense. I didn’t notice a lot of athletes with speed on the Plymouth team.
Monroeville over New London
St Paul over Crestview, could be a game if SP didn’t learn/improve from the mistakes made in the Calvert game. First real test since they lost in week 3.

I think Mapleton will beat SC this week but you never know. SC and SP will need to go 9-1 to guarantee a playoff berth in Region 26. It is stacked and 8-2 might not get you in this year.
Top 8 teams following week 10 qualify for playoffs Current 1 5-0 Mohawk 10.4500 2 5-0 McComb 8.9500 3 5-0 Edgerton 7.5500 4 5-0 South Central 7.4000 5 5-0 Leipsic 7.0000 6 5-0 Pandora-Gilboa 6.6500 7 4-1 Arlington 5.9000 8 4-1 Tiffin Calvert 5.7500 9 4-1 Norwalk St Paul 5.1500

FC could go 6-2 at best but no worse than 4-4
St Paul- could be a blow out or a dog fight SC- soft 3 games to open the season Plymouth- BC not good at all, a few down years for the Bucks New London- Wellington is terrible Crestview or Mapleton- 1 of them could win Western- Edison by a bunch Monroeville- has a chance for a win

Only if JL and his core staff were the coaches. St. Paul just has a bunch of kids that work harder than most and the staff game plans better than most. (No super star football players are moving to St Paul) I’m sure the confidence/attitude of the players has something to do with the tradition that is established there.

I would think a new Coach who seemed to do a pretty good job at Calvert and a bunch of good talent buying into his program would be the reason we may see a turnaround from Norwalk this year. Two D1 recruits/studs will not get you there alone. If I remember correctly Monroeville was a very average team last year in the weak FC.

St Mary’s has nice size on the line and St Paul did okay for their first game, especially since a lot of guys are seeing first time varsity reps. They will only get better with each game. 3 fumbles last night from a back who only averaged carrying the ball 6 times a game last year, he hopefully will figure it out and hold on to the ball. That score could of easily been 50-6.
I also don’t think Tiffin has what it takes to beat the Flyers. Livengood will have this team where he wants them by playoffs.

If the kid enrolled and attended school at the end of last year he would fall under the old rules. That is how I understood it. I might be wrong.

I do think St Paul will win the conference and they should be playing in the Regional Championship game. However, depth is going to play into their success if major injuries occur. There are 5 very good athletes that are not playing football that would give this team the added depth they need. Yes, Mapleton and Crestview may be a handful for the Flyers but the Seniors on this team will be playing in their 41st game of their career when they start the season and the Juniors will be playing in their 28th game. All the playoff experience makes this younger team more experienced than most. They also have a transfer who may only be available for the first part of the season. Here is a snap shot of what they may look like. (there is a lot of young talented players that I did not list)
Norwalk St Paul 2018 outlook
Defensive starters from LY returning: Top 3 leaders in tackles return Good @ LB-Sr. (153 tackles LY, 1st Team All Ohio) Myers @ LB-Sr. (109 tackles LY) Crabbs @ OL-Sr. (102 tackles LY) Hedrick @ DT-Sr. (60 tackles LY) (going to wreak havoc on both sides of the ball) ___________________________________________________________________________
Other notable Defensive returners: Starcher @ CB-Sr. (9 tackles LY) Livengood @ CB-Jr. Blair @ DE-Jr. (15 tackles LY) Caizzo @ OL-Jr. (26 tackles LY) Service @ DT-Jr. Griffin @ S or CB-Sr. Stoll @ DT-Sr. Tokarsky @ DT or DE-Jr. ____________________________________________________________________________
Offensive starters from LY returning: Number 2 and 3 offensive contributors return Good @ HB-Sr. (1017 yards of rushing/receiving LY) Myers @ C-Sr. (All District) Hedrick @ OT/G-Sr. (All District) Caizzo @ FB-Jr. (932 yards of rushing/receiving LY, All Conference) ____________________________________________________________________________
Other notable Offensive returners: Crabbs @ SE-Sr. (should be very explosive on offense) Griffin @ QB-Sr. (Great Kicker and Strong Arm who can make all the throws, 6’5”) Stoll @ OT-Sr. Moffit @ G/OT-Soph. Starcher @ WB-Sr. (Should have a big year on both sides of the ball) Service @ T-Jr. (Strong as an OX needs to just play the game) Blair @ TE/WB-Jr. Matlack @ OT/G-Jr.

The majority of folks at SP wanted him coaching in the program. Another opportunity missed!

I heard he stepped down over a month ago. Rumor is they may need an entire staff. Not sure what they are waiting for.

Do they have a head football coach or staff? Do they have plans of hiring one? Where is Don Wilson at when you need someone? Maybe they should reach out to Jeff Jump and see if he is interested in coaching the defense. Last I knew he lived 6 miles outside of Wakeman.

The past few years in the FC numbers have been down and most teams have struggled to field a JV team.
My preseason top 3 are:
1. St Paul 2. Plymouth 3. New London

Flyers seem to lose serious steam in the winter sports - not saying they're cellar-dwellers in anything - but FB and VB seem to go farther with more frequency than anything they do Nov.-Feb. This upcoming campaign will mark the 20th year since the boys last won a BBall title, 15 for the girls.

Scarlet: I wouldn't say St. Paul's has the best players from Norwalk but they do have the best coach for them. And that makes the biggest deference there. Yes, the main man knows how to coach and his assistants are pretty darn good as well. They might not have the best atheletes around Norwalk but they do have the best collective group of young men that play football. This season started in late January for these players. That is the main difference between them and other football programs/schools. The time and commitment from the players and staff is like no other school around. Their season doesn’t start in July! Good luck Flyers! Hopefully you are playing next week and can make the all knowing Boss Hog eat some crow.

Injuries happen all throughout the season, the best team will win! I just finished watching the Edgerton game vs. Tiffin and Edgerton ran up and down the field on Tiffin all night. I’ll take my Flyers and their run game/pass game and defense over Calvert all day long. Go Flyers!

Who was the Norwalk Reflector sports reporter for this game? Maybe it wasn’t the kids that reported it after all. Did you notice how the reflector tried to make it a story before it was a story?

I think they'll have at least a 6 win season maybe 7. mark may, i heard Huron scored 2 times in varsity 4 times in JV and lake didnt see the endzone in either session. Edison smoked CC on Saturday they wasted no time getting into the opp 30 yard line and running some first and tens. Stoll is already in beast mode. Bellevue handled Oak Harbor pretty easy. Port Clinton did decent against Napoleon each team scoring once. SBC off and running Read more: ncoast.proboards.com/thread/961/area-scrimmage-schedules#ixzz4qCQseNPN

Wrong forumn but since someone mentioned St Paul I will give my 2cents. First of all they lose 5 seniors from last year. They have 15 juniors who played varsity and 2 sophomores. On defense they get back the #2 tackler Good and #3 tackler Nickoli and FC lineman of the year. They do lose two senior runningbacks, but I've followed SP football enough to know they have horses waiting to run. Ashland Crestview will give them the biggest challenge in the FC.(they return 22 juniors and have tons of speed). Monroeville lost 15 or so Seniors and don't have enough to contend this year. Once they make the playoffs it all depends on what region they end up in. Last year State Champs JFK lost 15 seniors and Magadore has now moved up to D6. However D6 state runner-up from last year drops down to D7 ( Cuyahoga Heights) and may end up in the same Region as JFK and St Paul. Just a little food for thought.......

Look at the rules! A lot to digest. Private high schools can pick a school district or a feeder school. The big penalty comes when a kid moves in after a certain grade and is not in the school district or feeder school that is selected. Public schools are feeling the hit just as much if not more.
